dental implants
implant dentistry is becoming more popular in today's dental society for a number of reasons. implants are utilized to offer patients a foundation for new restorative teeth where natural teeth are missing or have been extracted. the implant offers the patient the opportunity to regain normal function of the tooth without being forced to resort to a bridge or a denture.

·the new implant will support your teeth firmly and safely.
·your new implants are aesthetically pleasing.
·you will no longer have pain during talking or eating.
·the dental implant will prevent progressive bone atrophy.
·implants have a proven scientific basis.
dental implant surgery procedure
the tooth structure has two main sections, the root and the crown. the root is the section of the tooth that is below the gumline. a dental implant acts as the restorative for this section of the tooth. the metal implant acts as an anchor in the jawbone. the first step of the procedure is surgical placement of the implant. under regular dental anesthetic, the gum tissue is opened and the implant dentist places the implant into the jawbone. when this is achieved, the tissue is then sutured closed. there is not often significant discomfort with this procedure. this process can take from 1-3 hours depending on the number of implants being placed.
this implant will be left untreated for a period of 3-6 months. during this time, the bone will grow around the implant in a process called osseointegration. a removable crown may be utilized during this time period to allow for chewing and to preserve the cosmetic appearance.
the next step in the process is to attach an abutment to the tooth implant. this is achieved by exposing the top of the implant and placing the abutment. this is the part of the implant that will support the final crown.
finally, an impression is taken of the tooth implant and a final restoration is crafted. this restoration will be comfortable and cosmetically pleasing. your completed tooth implant will be fully functional, allowing you to resume normal activities.
dental implants cost
the cost of dental implants depends on many factors , including the type of implantation , the implant dentist performing the procedure , the location where it is performed , the materials used , the number of implants needed and the amount of dental insurance you have .
single implant placement can range in cost from $1000 to $5000 , depending on the aforementioned factors . the cost of full-mouth reconstructive dental implants can range from $24,000 to $100,000 .
are you a candidate for dental implants ?
now that you know what an implant costs , its time to determine if you are a candidate.
first , seek the advise of a dentist trained in implants , implant crowns and/or surgery . at east brewster dental , our implant dentists have over 40 years of experience placing and restoring implants . we will conduct a comprehensive oral health examination and patient history to evaluate candidacy .
dental implantation , which is performed to replace missing teeth , can be done anytime after adolescence or when bone growth is complete .certain medical conditions , such as active diabetes , cancer or periodontal disease may require additional treatment before the implant procedure can be performed . also to determine candidacy for a dental implant , we must evaluate your implant site's bone density and quanity . in some cases where bone loss has occured due to periodontal disease , implants may not be advised . in certain cases , bone grafting can be derived from your bone , a synthetic bone or a bovine bone to provide the right support for your implant , but the implant dentist will need to determine if you qualify for these procedures .
narrower dental implants also called mini dental implants may be used for small teeth and incisors . also a mini dental implant may best serve patients who require stabilization of lower jaw dentures or a missing tooth that was located in a narrow area . a small number of mini implants are fda-approved for the purposes of prosthesis stabilization . mini-implants are about half the width of their traditional implant counterparts , the implant is not full submerged , and they decrease the dental implant cost by 50% .
